Clearance – last few kits available on eBay now!
Whilst the Matchless Clueless store is closed, we are clearing the last few diode wiring kits we have available via eBay. Please click here to view the eBay listing if you are interested in purchasing one. It is the exact same diode kit described on this page.
We are now pleased to be shipping an improved version of our diode kit which uses special low voltage drop diodes. This means that more of the supply voltage is available to the indicator warning lights in your dashboard ensuring that they operate at maximum brightness. We have also changed the wiring colour from red to green to match the standard Triumph Bonneville colour coding and include two short green cable ties for neatly securing the diodes to the existing wiring loom.
The problem of feed-back illumination of the opposite direction indicators can occur when installing LED indicator conversions on motorcycles with only a single dashboard signal warning lamp. It is often found that when the left turn signals are switched on, the right ones flash too, and vice versa.
This problem is due to the single dashboard indicator tell-tale light allowing current to flow back through to the indicators which are not in use. It is a result of a cost saving wiring simplification used by many manufacturers, but isn’t a problem when the standard filament bulbs are installed as the current is not big enough to light the other indicator lamps. However LED light board turn on with only a small current and hence the power ‘leaked’ to the opposite direction indicator lamps through the dashboard indicator lamp is enough to make them flash too.
The solution is fairly cheap and simple, and this LED indicator diode kit aims to make it as cheap and simple as possible for customers installing the new MatchlessClueless Triumph Bonneville LED indicator boards. The kit contains everything you need to make the simple modification to your bikes wiring system, including full step-by-step instructions.
The two diodes required for the modification are ready wired for installation in this kit with long lengths of wire for maximum flexibility (although you can probably cut these down to much shorter lengths in practice). This takes the hassle out of choosing the right diodes, getting them the right way round and wiring them together correctly. The difficult bit is done for you so all you need to do is follow the simple instructions to wire the diodes in to your bike’s wiring loom.
To make this as simple as possible, the diode kit includes Scotchlok quick fit wiring connections which eliminate the need for any soldering. You don’t even need to strip the ends of the wires, just insert them into the connectors and close them up using a pair of pliers. The terminals automatically clamp the wire and make the electrical connections as you close them up. Instructions for using these connectors can be found here.
This diode kit is suitable for all modern Triumph Bonneville models which have a single dashboard indicator warning light, and is recommended for use with our Triumph Bonneville LED indicator conversions. We understand that all Bonnevilles from 2009-10 which have the electronic speedo (as opposed to the cable driven type) have LED warning lights in the dashboard and so there is no need for the diode kit on these bikes. Only one diode kit is required per bike (it fixes both the left and right indicator functions in one go). It is also suitable for many other cars and motorcycles which suffer from a similar problem when converting to LED indicators.
